Report: After four years in Indonesia, ten year-old Barack Obama has left his mother Ann and stepfather Lolo behind to spend the rest of his formative years on Hawaii, where he was originally born in 1961. While Barack’s time in Indonesia was marked by a deep immersion in a foreign culture, his return to Hawaii might mark one of the more significant cultural learning eras of his life. Barack is to live with his mother’s parents (affectionately referred to as “Gramps and Toot”), two white senior citizens who were born state-side in the US but now reside near the University of Hawaii and will play a vital role in Barack’s upbringing.
Barack will continue his education in Hawaii at the impressive Punahou School, the largest private/independent preparatory school in the United States, at just under 4000 students. With a hefty tuition bill, Barack’s family will undoubtedly go through some trying times in an effort to supply the young and gifted child with the best education available. Barack is reportedly been promised by his mother that she and his younger sister, Maya, will return to Hawaii within the year.
